Verdict

Puntas (first-run high-strength cuts) are a specialist format. Lalocura's is technically impressive but difficult, at 69% the proof demands the drinker meet it on its own terms, and the concentration carries as focused ingredient rather than finished spirit. The clay-still texture keeps the bottle from being purely aggressive, but there's no way around the proof. Consensus 3.5 is fair, not everyone will love this, and that's part of the point of bottling puntas separately.

Puntas is a category test – can you drink the agave through the heat?

Tasting notes

Nose: Intense cooked agave, then hot clay, a sharp citrus-alcohol edge

Palate: Fierce. The structure is there but the proof demands focus. Not a casual pour

Finish: Warming, concentrated. Endless

The bottom line

For drinkers who've earned it. Not a first bottle
