Verdict
There's a small category of non-Jalisco tequilana bottlings that are trying to argue blue agave can say something outside Tequila, and this Michoacán entry is a decent if not emphatic member of that club. The proof is honest and the agave is recognizable, but the bottle doesn't quite escape the sense that you're drinking a tequila that went to a different school. Cuentacuentos' Michoacán work is louder on the same question.
Blue agave off the ranch, still speaking ranch
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave, then sweet pine, a faint saline note, green pepper
Palate: Cleaner than the tequila template suggests, at 46.1% the Michoacán terroir asserts itself through the familiar tequilana sweetness. Interesting as a conceptual exercise; it doesn't fully escape the Jalisco vocabulary
Finish: Medium, slightly sweet, clean
The bottom line
An interesting argument, incompletely made
