Verdict

Tobaziche sits in a karwinskii family that rewards a producer who doesn't try to sand the edges off. Leyendas' bottling keeps the green-pepper-and-hay character front and center, it reads closer to 5 Sentidos' tobaziche discipline than to the commercial smoothings that show up on grocery shelves. A well-proofed wild agave at a fair price for what it is. Buy it as a karwinskii entry.

Tobaziche's green-pepper signature, legibly delivered

Tasting notes

Nose: Green bell pepper up front. Fresh hay, mint underneath

Palate: Leaner than cuishe, greener than madrecuishe, classic tobaziche positioning, executed at 47.5% with the vegetal lift intact. The liquid is disciplined without being thin

Finish: Drying, herbal. Stays medium-long

The bottom line

The best-tuned entry in the Leyendas karwinskii range
