Verdict
López Real's espadín is the sort of bottle that a bar uses when it needs a reliable mezcal pour without paying Vida's distribution premium. Nothing about it will surprise you – that's both the complaint and the point. At 45% it stays on structure; at the register it stays on budget. Compare Fidencio's entry espadín for a similar brief done with slightly more personality.
A house-pour espadín that knows what it is
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave with vanilla, orange peel
Palate: Medium-weight and cooperative at 45% – the proof gives the espadín room to breathe without pushing it anywhere new. Clean-faced, unambitious, drinkable
Finish: Lightly sweet, clean
The bottom line
Reliable house-pour espadín. Not the one to remember
