Verdict

Los Nahuales' special-edition series is the house's experimental lane, and No. 1 is one of the more successful releases. The cuishe-sierrudo pairing puts a karwinskii dialect in direct dialogue with an americana one, and at 48% the proof gives both agaves their full range. Think of the format next to 5 Sentidos' better ensambles: an edited conversation between species, not a blur. Buy the series if you can find it.

Two agaves, clearly casted

Tasting notes

Nose: Dark honey, green pepper, warm stone, a mineral edge

Palate: The two families work in rotation rather than fusion – the sierrudo's weight sets a base for the cuishe's lean aromatic lift, and at 48% the bottle has room to let both speak. A composition, not a compromise

Finish: Chalky, herbal-sweet – long

The bottom line

Worth owning. The special editions are the portfolio's upside
