Verdict
Luneta's cuerno from Navarro is the single-varietal companion to the cuerno-chino ensamble, and it earns its slot. At 48.5% the salmiana sub-varietal reads cleanly on its own – peppery, mineral, structurally intact, and Navarro's cut stays consistent with what we liked about the ensamble. Think of it as Derrumbes' SLP work with the producer's name on the front. Buy.
Single-varietal salmiana as a study bottle
Tasting notes
Nose: Bell pepper, then warm mineral, dry corn silk, a flint lift
Palate: At 48.5% the salmiana cuerno's signature peppery-chalky character is fully present – Navarro has preserved the vegetal lift that undersold salmiana loses. The bottle comes through as a study of one sub-varietal
Finish: Peppery, clean – long
The bottom line
A serious single-salmiana. Buy
