Verdict

Navarro's cuerno-chino is the argument for San Luis Potosí salmiana at the proof the agave requires. At 48.4% the two salmiana sub-varietals present as distinct voices in a composition, and the bottle lands as a maestro's edit rather than a producer's aggregation. Commit – Derrumbes does the SLP region at this caliber and Luneta is working at the same level. Hunt Navarro's name on any Luneta bottle.

Tasting notes

Nose: Green pepper, then cooked corn, warm mineral, dry herb

Palate: 48.4% is the number salmiana demands and the San Luis Potosí hands have delivered. The cuerno and chino sub-varietals work in dialogue, spikier on the top, rounder on the base – and the blend reads composed rather than merged

Finish: Drying, peppery, long

The bottom line

A salmiana bottling that does SLP justice. Commit
