Verdict
Rodriguez's Puebla ensamble for Luneta is one of the clearest three-agave compositions we've tasted at this price tier. At 47% the bottle has room to let each component show, and the cooler Puebla character reads distinct from any Oaxacan equivalent. Think of it next to the best Real Minero Puebla work or Mezcalosfera's multi-agave releases. Commit – Rodriguez is a name worth following across bottles.
Puebla ensamble as an argument for the state's producers
Tasting notes
Nose: Wild herb with dried flower, a mineral edge
Palate: At 47% the papalometl and espadilla bring upper and middle register respectively while the espadín anchors the base – Rodriguez's intent shows through in how cleanly the components read. The Puebla terroir gives the bottle a cooler signature than any Oaxacan peer
Finish: Drying, clean. Long
The bottom line
A masterclass Puebla ensamble. Commit
