Verdict
Rodriguez's papalometl-cimarrón blend is another quiet win in Luneta's Puebla range – two aromatic agaves working in consonance rather than competition, with the producer's hand visible in the restraint. At 45% the bottle is proofed slightly lower than we'd prefer for the blend, but the composition holds together. Track Rodriguez's bottles across the Luneta catalog; his Puebla work is the house's best argument.
Puebla as an aromatic conversation, edited
Tasting notes
Nose: Wild herb, then warm stone, cool mineral, dry flower
Palate: The papalometl (potatorum dialect) and cimarrón (marmorata) share the aromatic register and let Rodriguez's Puebla signature carry – at 45% the structure is at the floor of where this blend should be, but the hand is clear and the composition holds
Finish: Cool, herbal
