Verdict
Machee's amarillo-verdito-espadín blend is the kind of three-agave ensamble that works because the producer had a specific register in mind and held to it. The karwinskii lean is intentional and the espadín is doing real structural work under it. At 47.3% the bottle has the shoulder to keep the components legible. Think of it next to 5 Sentidos' or Cuish's better ensamble work.
An ensamble that leans karwinskii without hiding it
Tasting notes
Nose: Dry green pepper, cooked agave, wild mint, warm hay
Palate: The amarillo and verdito share karwinskii-rhodacantha character and the espadín anchors the base, at 47.3% the blend reads as an edited composition rather than a house-blend compromise. Machee's intent shows through
Finish: Drying, vegetal, long
The bottom line
A smart karwinskii-led ensamble. Take it when you see it
