Madrecuishe given the high-cut treatment – surprisingly legible

- Price: $160 ($$)
Verdict
Most puntas bottlings sacrifice varietal clarity to the high-ABV hook. Macurichos doesn't. The madrecuishe's cold mineral line comes through the heat in a way that argues for the house's cuts – reach for it over the Macurichos tepextate puntas if you want proof done in service of agave rather than spectacle.
Proof that puntas isn't automatically a circus
Tasting notes
Nose: Green melon rind with dry hay, faint pine
Palate: 62% is the ceiling on what madrecuishe can carry without going flat, and Macurichos lands just under it. The karwinskii's mineral brightness stays in frame; the proof adds reach, not noise
Finish: Very long, bracing, herbaceous
The bottom line
The Macurichos puntas we'd open first
