Verdict
Tepextate under 48% is usually an undersell; at 65.7% Macurichos finally lets the agave open up the way it wants to. This is the bottle Mezcalosfera collectors chase and the rest of us occasionally find, buy if you see it, because the
Tepextate this concentrated is a rare argument for puntas as a category
Tasting notes
Nose: Bell pepper, wet granite, white flowers, lime pith
Palate: Tepextate's 18-to-30 year patience is delivered with puntas-grade density, green pepper and stone lifted by a concentrated floral top. The heat sharpens the vegetal signature rather than washing it out
Finish: Very long, floral, mineral
The bottom line
A reference-grade puntas. Grab it when you find it
