Verdict
If the puntas bottling is the argument, this is the working version – the tepextate you actually open on a weeknight. At 50% it reads cleaner than most Oaxaca tepextates under 46%, and the Macurichos house signature stays restrained. Track it when the puntas releases have sold through.
A tepextate built for the shelf, not the trophy case
Tasting notes
Nose: Rock candy with a flick of sharp cheddar, green pepper underneath
Palate: 50% is the honest floor for tepextate and Macurichos holds it. The wild agave's stone-and-flower profile is there; the palate has weight without the spikiness that the house's puntas line courts
Finish: Mineral, faintly herbal
The bottom line
The everyday Macurichos tepextate. Keep one in rotation
