Verdict
Juan Antonio Coronel Maya is five generations deep in the craft and the bottle honors that – track his name. The cuishe reads more delicate than most karwinskii at this proof, which is the harder trick to pull. Closer to a restrained Real Minero than the typical Melate release. A sleeper in the catalog.
Five generations into a palenque – the cuts show the years
Tasting notes
Nose: Green melon rind, wet limestone, faint mint, white flowers
Palate: Juan Antonio Coronel Maya distills at 48% and the karwinskii's fragile mineral profile holds – fifth-generation patience shows in the cuts. The mid-palate has a floral lift most cuishe misses
Finish: Long, cool, gently floral
The bottom line
A quietly excellent cuishe. Buy when you find it
