Verdict
Erasto Celerino Moreno makes a credible Guerrero cupreata but pour it after the Benigno Sánchez Gatica bottle in the same series and the order is obvious – this one runs hotter and sweeter. Reach for it if you want the loud version. Closer to what Bozal's Guerrero releases aim at than the restrained Mal Bien style.
Guerrero papalote with the volume turned up
Tasting notes
Nose: Green honey, then bell pepper, warm stone, wild mint
Palate: At 49.8% Erasto Celerino Moreno pushes the papalote harder than Benigno does – the fruit reads more forward, the mineral spine has to work for attention. The cuts are clean but the balance tips toward heat
Finish: Warming, honeyed – long
The bottom line
Serviceable Guerrero papalote. Not the pick of the shelf
