Verdict
Velasco Ensamble 2 is the least settled of the four-release series – the blend sits like a producer turning dials. Pass on this one and reach for Ensamble 3 or 4 instead if you're committing to a single bottle. Within the series, though, it's still a useful data point on the Jalisco Filipino technique at higher proof.
The louder middle of the Velasco four – informative, not essential
Tasting notes
Nose: Warm hay, green herb, cooked fruit, faint smoke
Palate: At 49.3% through the Filipino still Luis Velasco runs louder than in Ensamble 1 – more aromatic top, less patient mid. The blend reads busier but still controlled
Finish: Warming, grassy – long
The bottom line
The skippable Velasco if you're only buying one
