Verdict
If you're buying one bottle from the Velasco four-release series, commit to Ensamble 3 – this is where his hand shows most clearly. Closer to what Derrumbes Jalisco achieves than any other raicilla-adjacent ensamble at this price. Don't pass on this; the series will be harder to find soon. Reference-grade Jalisco blending.
Ensamble 3 is why the Velasco series exists
Tasting notes
Nose: Dried apricot, warm stone, wild herb, old wood
Palate: 44.8% is the proof that lets Luis Velasco's ensamble cohere – the Filipino still pulls a clean, aromatic line and the blend lands where he wants it. Every element audible, nothing crowded
Finish: Dry, complex
The bottom line
The Velasco pick. Buy without hesitation
