Verdict
Honor Gilberto Roldán by name. Lamparillo is a rare enough agave that most drinkers won't recognize the name; this is what introduction looks like done right. Commit – closer to what Amaras' Durango Logia releases achieve at their best than any commercial Durango bottle. Hunt it while the Melate Club release is still findable.
Lamparillo at 47.1% – the Durango sleeper in the catalog
Tasting notes
Nose: Wild hay, warm pine, dry citrus, mineral dust
Palate: Duranguense still at 47.1% – Gilberto Roldán treats lamparillo (a Durango wild agave most drinkers won't meet) with the restraint the agave rewards. The palate has real structure; nothing shouts
Finish: Dry, resinous. Very long
The bottom line
The Durango sleeper. Take it when you see it
