Verdict
This is the bare-bones version of the SLP highland style: green, mineral, unsweet. Daniel Navarro, who also distills under the Lucero label, keeps it close to the plant. Set against the Lucero verde it reads a touch simpler and a touch rawer. Pour it when you want the altiplano stated plainly, and save the Lucero for the longer sit.
Salmiana with nothing dressed up
Tasting notes
Nose: Fresh-cut grass, green pepper, limestone dust, a cool herbal note
Palate: Lean and high-toned at 50%. Salmiana's raw vegetal snap, a chalky altiplano minerality, almost no sweetness to hide behind
Finish: Dry, green, peppery, medium-long
The bottom line
A plain, honest salmiana; pour it neat
