Verdict
Tepextate through refrescador sounds different than through copper, cooler, more aromatic, less dense. The Ramos-family Mal Bien version is a clean example of what the Miahuatlán refrescador idiom does to marmorata. Not as layered as Hermógenes Vásquez's copper tepextate in the Maguey Melate program, but a real bottle on its own terms.
A refrescador tepextate that argues for the still
Tasting notes
Nose: Jasmine with wet stone, cooked melon
Palate: 48.26% clears the tepextate proof floor and the Ramos brothers deliver a marmorata with clear floral drive and refrescador lift, nothing thinned, nothing smeared
Finish: Dry, floral-mineral, long
The bottom line
A refrescador tepextate worth the flight
