Verdict
The Ramos family's verde and the Cortés Mexicano Verde are the two Mal Bien rhodacantha releases and both are legitimate references, same agave, same region, different hands. This one is the bigger of the two, with more fruit and more proof. Pour them side by side to learn what a maestro's cut does to a single agave.
Rhodacantha proof-forward – the other reference
Tasting notes
Nose: Bright pepper – then cooked pineapple, green herb, warm mineral
Palate: 52% of rhodacantha through refrescador, denser and more fruit-forward than the Cortés Mexicano Verde, with Miahuatlán's lifted signature keeping the bottle articulate
Finish: Dry, bright, very long
The bottom line
The second rhodacantha reference in the Mal Bien catalog
