Verdict
Between three sierra negras in this batch (Mal Bien Ramos, Maguey Melate López Diego, and this one), the Marca Negra release is the softest-spined. Not a bad bottle, just a reminder that village and hand matter as much as agave. Buy if you want a mellow americana; skip if you want sierra negra at its most articulate.
A gentler sierra negra than the benchmarks
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark fig with cocoa hint, faint smoke
Palate: 46-48% of copper sierra negra – Baltazar Cruz Gomez's cut reads warmer and softer than the Mal Bien Ramos or Maguey Melate López Diego sierra negra releases, americana density present but less driven
Finish: Warm, earthy – medium-long
The bottom line
A pleasant sierra negra. Others argue harder
