Verdict
Mestizo Reposado is the middle option in a line where neither end fully lands, the joven is too polite, the añejo too barrel-heavy. This one splits the difference without solving either problem. Pour when you want a softer mezcal for a whiskey drinker; skip for any higher-proof joven if you're drinking solo.
A reposado in the shadow of better jovens
Tasting notes
Nose: Soft oak, cooked agave, toffee
Palate: The shorter rest preserves a little more of the espadín character than the añejo does, but the 40% proof still keeps the argument quiet
Finish: Oaky, mild, medium
The bottom line
A pass unless you're converting a whiskey drinker
