Verdict

The Mezcalero series adding a Durango cenizo to the Special Bottling shelf is a category-shift, historically a Craft Distillers' Oaxaca showcase, it now argues that the north deserves the same single-lot format. The liquid honors the argument. Track it for a serious northern-mezcal flight alongside Amaras Logia.

Durango in the Special Bottling line is overdue recognition

Tasting notes

Nose: Hot hay. Then piney menthol, dark honey, cracked pepper

Palate: 47% with cenizo's herbal sharpness and weight present, the Durango terroir reads clean, and the Special Bottling treatment gives the northern agave the same respect the Oaxaca wilds receive

Finish: Warming, mineral, long

The bottom line

Worth the chase. Durango at Mezcalero-tier treatment
