Clay-pot ensamble with barril anchoring the karwinskii
Score: 3.5/5 agaves

- ABV: 47.8%
- Price: $70 ($$)
Verdict
The Mezcasiarca catalog is stronger on solo-agave releases than on ensambles, and this three-agave clay-pot bottle is a fair illustration – the technique is present, the agaves are audible, but the whole doesn't cohere as cleanly as Mezcasiarca Arroqueño or Mezcasiarca Espadín. Pour for clay-pot completionists.
Clay-pot ensambles are harder to parse than clay-pot solo bottles
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet clay, green herb, dry grass, a faint smoke
Palate: 47.8% with barril's dry, savory karwinskii character joining tobaziche and espadín – the clay-pot signature is present but the ensamble reads busier than the Mezcasiarca solo releases
Finish: Dry, earthen. Long
The bottom line
Pour for clay-pot depth. Reach for Mezcasiarca solo bottles first
