Verdict

Mezcasiarca's clay-pot bicuishe is a distinctive regional bottle – the same agave as Memorable or Mezcalero solo bicuishes, but the distillation technique produces a bottle that drinks notably different. Pour alongside a copper-distilled bicuishe for an educational flight; the clay-pot side is quieter but palpably itself.

Clay-pot bicuishe is bicuishe with the roof off

Tasting notes

Nose: Wet clay, dry grass, green apple, mineral dust

Palate: ~50% with bicuishe's austere karwinskii profile picking up an earthen, clay-pot accent – drier and more slate-tinged than copper-distilled bicuishe, less lifted

Finish: Austere, earthen – long

The bottom line

Pour for a technique flight. Less immediate than the arroqueño release
