Mezcasiarca Cuixito
Cuixito in clay pots – a softer variant

- Producer: Mezcasiarca
- Region: Albarradas, Oaxaca
- Agave: Cuixito
- ABV: 50%
- Price: $70 ($)
Verdict
Cuixito is among the lighter karwinskii cultivars, and even the clay-pot treatment doesn't give it the architectural spine that bicuishe or tobaziche carry. Mezcasiarca's release is a competent introduction to the cultivar for collectors of the karwinskii family; casual drinkers should reach for Mezcasiarca Bicuishe instead.
Another karwinskii cultivar, another clay-pot test – this one lands gentler
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet clay, then dry herb, faint green fruit
Palate: ~50% with cuixito (yet another karwinskii cultivar) reading softer than its cousins – the clay-pot signature is there, but the agave itself has less weight than bicuishe or tobaziche
Finish: Earthen, dry
The bottom line
Pour for karwinskii-cultivar depth. Not a hunting priority
