- ABV: 40%

Verdict
Miel de Tierra's añejo is a case study in why aging commercial-proof mezcal rarely works – at 40% the liquid is already too soft, and the oak finishes the job. The producer has the chops (see the salmiana) but the tequilana base plus wood plus low ABV plus Zacatecas commerce adds up to something that would be unremarkable as a tequila and is doubly unremarkable as a mezcal.
Teresa Rubio Murillo can make better than this. The category brief holds her back
Tasting notes
Nose: Oak, butterscotch, cooked pineapple, faint vanilla
Palate: 40% tequilana-aged – the oak dominates the agave, and the agave is tequilana anyway. Reads like an entry-level añejo tequila with a different DO stamp
Finish: Oaky, sweet – medium
The bottom line
Pass. Drink her Salmiana instead
