Verdict
Mortal's espadín is proof-correct and technically fine – nothing in the cup says Tlalixtac over any other mid-sized Oaxacan town. In a category where Morro gets mineral and Dixeebe gets concentrated, neutral-correct is a strange position to hold. No consensus data; we score it middle-shelf adequate without a reason to return.
A bottle that checks boxes instead of telling a story
Tasting notes
Nose: A green top over cooked agave – pepper skin, faint smoke, a soft sweetness
Palate: 44% puts the liquid above the proof ceiling, but the bottle plays safe – clean, competent, mid-palate forward, no distinctive Tlalixtac fingerprint
Finish: Sweet, clean. Medium
The bottom line
A pass. Adequate without argument
