NETA Madrecuixe, Bicuixe, Espadin

Ranulfo's three-agave refrescador – a quieter sibling to the two-agave bottle

Score: 4.0/5 agaves

NETA Madrecuixe, Bicuixe, Espadin bottle
  • Producer: NETA
  • Maestro: Ranulfo García Pacheco
  • Region: Miahuatlán, Oaxaca
  • Agave: Bicuishe, Espadin, Madrecuishe
  • Price: $70 ($$)

Verdict

Adding bicuishe to Ranulfo's madrecuishe-espadín pair complicates the result without dramatically improving it – three reviewers at 4.0 feels about right. Buy it after the two-agave version; start there if you haven't. Refrescador plus three karwinskii-family voices is still above most of the category.

More agaves, marginally less clarity – still Ranulfo, still worth it

Tasting notes

Nose: Dry herb, wet stone, green fruit, faint floral

Palate: Refrescador distillation on madrecuishe, bicuishe, and espadín – complex but slightly more crowded than the two-agave Ranulfo bottling

Finish: Mineral, cool – long

The bottom line

A buy after the two-agave version
