Verdict
Tobaziche is a karwinskii most producers bury in ensambles, and Manuel Aquino García's puntas version at 59.9% is a corrective – the agave has more definition and less heat than its coyote sibling. One reviewer at 4.0; our read edges higher. A specialist bottle, but for karwinskii-heads the tobaziche-coyote puntas pair is a flight worth assembling.
Tobaziche is underrated. Manuel's puntas is the case
Tasting notes
Nose: Warm stone, dry citrus peel, flint
Palate: 59.9% tobaziche puntas – tobaziche's karwinskii spine at near-60% reads cooler and more mineral than the coyote version, slightly less hot on the mid-palate
Finish: Very long, wet slate, slow-burning
The bottom line
Buy with the coyote puntas
