Verdict
Hermógenes Vasquez is a karwinskii master, and his tepextate shows you what happens when a mineral-oriented maestro handles a floral agave, the result is a tepextate that reads quieter than the Florencio or Aniceto versions. Three reviewers at 3.3; our read is slightly more generous. Interesting as a maestro-signature document; not the first tepextate to buy.
Even Hermógenes' tepextate comes through as his – mineral first, floral second
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet stone – then faint orchid, dry herb, light citrus
Palate: 47.2% tepextate where Hermógenes' mineral-forward hand tones down the floral register, more stony than floral, which is unusual for the agave
Finish: Iron-tinged, floral-at-the-edges – long
The bottom line
Buy for Hermógenes completism, not for first tepextate
