Verdict
Ojo de Tigre is Luis Gerardo Méndez's brand and to its credit the liquid is more considered than most actor-fronted spirits. The problem is the ABV – 37% tells you the target drinker is a house-party guest, not a sipper, and the tobalá in the ensamble deserves more air than that. Reach past it for Banhez Ensamble if you're in the same price tier.
Competent is the ceiling when you proof-cap a tobalá blend at 37%
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave with a light citrus, mild smoke, a touch of mint
Palate: Espadín-tobalá ensamble at a nervous 37-40%. The liquid is competent; the proof is apologetic
Finish: Clean, slightly sweet
The bottom line
Reach past it for Banhez Ensamble or Del Maguey Vida
