Verdict
Three bottles in and the Olla de Miel thesis is clear: the joven works, the aged bottles don't. This reposado takes a legible house espadín and rounds it into something that tastes like every other reposado – smooth, sweet, narrow. Skip toward the joven, which at least gives you the distillate the maestro actually made.
The agave had something to say. The barrel told it to keep quiet
Tasting notes
Nose: Light oak with brown sugar, a ghost of smoke
Palate: 40% with wood integration – smooth in an unchallenging way, the agave's edges planed off
Finish: Short, sweet, faintly woody
The bottom line
Skip. The joven is the only Olla de Miel worth buying
