Verdict
Papalometl is the agave that most rewards patience and most punishes shortcut, and Palalma has the patience built into the house. This bottle is a useful companion to the Guerrero cupreata – same species family, different state, different rendering. Buy them together when you want to understand how cupreata reads across a geography.
Papalometl at the producer's hand rather than the producer at the papalometl's mercy
Tasting notes
Nose: Wildflower, green melon, wet stone
Palate: 45-50% of papalometl carrying the species' floral register with Palalma's characteristic restraint. Less dense than the Guerrero capón from the same house, more elegant
Finish: Floral, minerally
The bottom line
Buy. Pair with Palalma's Guerrero for a full cupreata tasting
