Verdict
Valente García's madrecuishe is the counterpoint to Gregorio Martínez's, same species, same region, different producer philosophy, detectable in the glass. García's version reads more austere, more mineral-forward, more committed to what karwinskii does at its driest. Buy both if you're serious about madrecuishe; otherwise buy this first.
Two maestros, one agave, two bottles – this is why named-maestro bottling matters
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet limestone up front. Cucumber skin, white pepper underneath
Palate: 48.9% and drier than Martínez's bottling – García's hand pulls the saline-mineral register forward and lets the sweetness sit behind it. Distinctly the maestro's voice
Finish: Mineral, dry, very long
The bottom line
Buy. Our pick between the two named-maestro madrecuishes
