Verdict
Distilling with coffee in the still is a more honest technique than steeping it in afterwards, the result integrates rather than sits on top. Still, at 46% and with coffee this dominant, this reads as a coffee-mezcal rather than a mezcal with coffee. Reach for it as a cocktail or dessert bottle, skip as your pechuga study piece.
Distilled coffee beats infused coffee. It doesn't beat actual mezcal
Tasting notes
Nose: Cold brew. Then brown sugar, cooked agave, a whisper of smoke
Palate: 46% with coffee carried through distillation, less syrupy than an infused coffee mezcal, but still dominated by the bean
Finish: Coffee-leaning, warm – medium
The bottom line
Reach for it for cocktail work. Skip for study
