Verdict
Ensambles earn their adjectives by having a coherent argument, and this bottle makes one: karwinskii plus mexicano is a structural pairing that works at scale. Papadiablo's proofing gives each agave room without over-extracting any. Reach for it against Palenqueros' cinco magueyes for a two-house ensamble comparison at similar ambition.
The Papadiablo ensamble that justifies the 'especial' without overselling it
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave, dark stone fruit, wet stone, green herb, mineral top
Palate: Bicuishe, espadín, madrecuishe, and mexicano at 47.5% – the karwinskii backbone carries it, the mexicano adds weight, and the espadín keeps it legible
Finish: Layered, warming
The bottom line
Buy. A reference ensamble at an honest price
