Verdict
Picaflor's straight espadín is a shift drinker. The espadín-madrecuishe is the bottle that says the brand's paying attention. The karwinskii contribution lifts the whole liquid into a zone where it can sit on a serious shelf without apologizing. For a budget ensamble with karwinskii structure, this is a fair bet – we'd rank it above Cuentacuentos entry ensambles, below Vago's Elote era.
The second bottle doing what the first one couldn't
Tasting notes
Nose: Dry earth, then green herb, a faint dairy note, cooked agave underneath
Palate: Leaner and more vegetal than the straight espadín. The madrecuishe pulls the liquid toward minerality and structure. 47.9% proof holds the ensamble steady without any one maguey dominating
Finish: Herbal, dry. Medium
The bottom line
The one Picaflor worth tracking. Buy it over the solo espadín
