Verdict
Cirial is one of those magueys most drinkers haven't met yet, and Por Lo Bueno's version is a serious introduction. The plant runs stonier than madrecuishe, drier than cuishe, and the producer lets that austerity stand. Track it next to Rey Campero's or 5 Sentidos' work on rare karwinskii-adjacent magueys.
Cirial rewards producers who refuse to decorate it
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet stone – then dry grass, a thin cinnamon note, green melon underneath
Palate: Mineral, dry, structured. 46% is near the low end for cirial but the bottle carries it because the plant's concentration does the work. Por Lo Bueno's restraint shows as cleanness, no sweetener, no padding
Finish: Long, stony, dry
The bottom line
A rare-agave buy. Track it down
