Verdict
Marmorata rewards producers who commit to proof. Por Lo Bueno's tepextate is clean and recognizable, but at 46% it drinks like a sketch of what the plant can do. Pluma Negra's 52%, Pierde Almas' 55%, and Pescador's 50.24% all demonstrate the ceiling being unlocked. This one is the reminder of why they had to unlock it.
Tepextate under 48% is an incomplete argument
Tasting notes
Nose: Green melon – then mint, a light mineral wash
Palate: Pretty but compressed. 46% on tepextate is below the threshold where the plant's twenty-year patience shows up as structural depth. The flavors are right; the volume is low
Finish: Green, fading. Stays medium
The bottom line
Pass. Tepextate should commit
