Verdict

Two-maguey ensambles with one espadín and one karwinskii are the category's most dependable form, the agaves complement rather than argue. Praedium's version at 51% proof is clean and well-composed. Track it next to the Picaflor espadín-madrecuishe for similar category work. Both bottles earn their shelf space by letting the karwinskii lead.

Espadín plus tobaziche is the ensamble math that almost always adds up

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave. Then cedar, a green herb, wet stone

Palate: Espadín weight plus karwinskii structure. At 51% the liquid has proof to support both magueys. The tobaziche's cedar-and-mineral signature rides on top of espadín's rounder body

Finish: Layered, clean

The bottom line

Buy it. Reliable ensamble geometry
