Verdict
Puntagave's artisanal line is where the brand collects the most marketing language and the least commitment. At 41% ABV and commodity execution, this is a bottle that would be better served by admitting what it is. Skip it. The Puntagave sotol and raicilla Maximiliana, surprisingly, show better.
The word artisanal on the label doing the work the proof won't
Tasting notes
Nose: Faint cooked agave, then a generic smoke, thin vanilla
Palate: Watery, sweet, forgettable. 41% proof on espadín from a brand labeling itself 'artisanal' is a packaging claim doing work the liquid doesn't. Flat across the palate
Finish: Sugary, gone – short
The bottom line
Skip it. The artisanal label is a promise unkept
