Verdict
Barril is one of the less-celebrated karwinskii variants, tighter, drier, more austere than its famous cousins. Onofre Ortiz doesn't decorate the plant's austerity; he lets it be the point. Track it next to 5 Sentidos' barril work for comparison. A serious shelf bottle for karwinskii obsessives.
Barril is karwinskii's narrowest branch; Ortiz trims nothing
Tasting notes
Nose: Dry grass, green apple, a mineral undertow
Palate: Lean, structural, typical barril, tighter than cuishe, drier than madrecuishe. 49.3% is the right proof for the plant. Ortiz's restraint reads as clarity
Finish: Stony, clean
The bottom line
Buy it. Karwinskii completism bottle
