Verdict
Quiquiriqui's tobalá is a competent entry-tier bottling – floral, clean, recognizable as the plant. Not in the conversation with Pluma Negra's 52% or Puntiagudo's Ortiz 52.3% for ambition. For a first tobalá with a friendly bottle design, it's fair. Upgrade from here.
A fair starter tobalá with design on the shelf
Tasting notes
Nose: Orange blossom, honey
Palate: Floral and mid-weight, 46.7% in the working range. Quiquiriqui's tobalá is better than its Matatlán espadín but doesn't match the San Juan del Río espadín's commitment. Fair entry-tier tobalá
Finish: Floral, clean – medium
The bottom line
Buy it as a first tobalá. Upgrade to Pluma Negra
