- ABV: 46%
- Price: $70 ($)
Verdict
Real Minero's espadín is a lesson in what the base agave can do when it's treated the way wild agaves usually are: clay still, Ángeles family production rigor, appropriate proof, and glass aging that smooths the bottle without softening it. The result is an espadín that drinks closer to a wild agave than commercial espadín conventions would predict. 4.3 consensus is fair; we'd nudge up. Premium espadín, justified.
This is how espadín drinks when no one is cutting corners
Tasting notes
Nose: Hot stone, cooked agave, citrus zest, faint leather
Palate: Fully expressed for the agave, the clay-still adds a textural depth that industrial espadín simply cannot replicate
Finish: Mineral, saline. Very long
The bottom line
The bottle to open to end the 'espadín is boring' argument
