Verdict
Two agaves, one clay pot, 51.6%. The simpler lineup makes this bottle more legible than the Real Minero ensambles with four or five magueys – you can actually track what largo brings and what espadín grounds. A working Tuesday-night Real Minero, if that phrase means anything at this price. 5 Sentidos espadín-karwinskii blends fill the same niche at a similar caliber.
The Real Minero bottle that doesn't need a flight to shine
Tasting notes
Nose: Fresh green herbs – then orange blossom, wet clay, cooked agave
Palate: Balanced and round, the largo lending a karwinskii-style vegetal upright to the espadín's weight. Edgar and Lorenzo Ángeles deliver a cleaner, less dramatic statement than the bigger ensambles
Finish: Mineral, dry
The bottom line
The Real Minero to drink, not display
