Yautepec tobalá at 48%. A quieter voice in the category

- ABV: 48%

Verdict
República Agavera is one of the small Yautepec producers that doesn't get the distribution its quality deserves. Saúl Barriga's tobalá at 48% is a legible, honest rendering, not on the level of Real Minero or Lalocura, but well clear of the commercial tobalá field. If you see it on a list, reach for it over Amaras Logia Tobalá. The price tier will decide the rest.
A tobalá that doesn't argue for attention
Tasting notes
Nose: Honey, then wildflower, warm stone, faint smoke
Palate: Medium-weight and floral at 48%, Saúl Barriga's tobalá arriving clean and pointed but not dense. Proof is honest; the liquid is unshowy
Finish: Floral, dry
The bottom line
A solid small-producer tobalá, worth the reach
