Verdict
Rey Campero does unusual ensambles well, and this one is a good argument for why pulquero agave should be in more bottles. The pulquero's lactic-straw register adds a dimension to espadín that single-variety espadín can't reach, and at 50.4% proof the composition holds without tipping into novelty. Candelaria Yegolé production stays disciplined throughout. Community consensus aligns. A category-edge ensamble that earns the shelf.
Pulquero in a distillate is a category edge-case – a welcome one
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet straw up front. Warm earth, faint dairy underneath
Palate: The pulquero adds a creamy, almost lactic character to a disciplined espadín base. 50.4% holds the composition
Finish: Warm, a faintly milky mineral note – long
The bottom line
A curiosity bottle that earns the shelf
