Verdict

Mezcla Salvaje is Rey Campero's case for why the brand deserves its shelf space. Rómulo Sánchez Parada works three rare wild agaves into a 48.7% ensamble that reads as a deliberate composition rather than a grab bag. Tepextate at 48%+ is doing actual work; sierra negra is the surprise. Pick it over any Bozal wild ensamble. Smaller lots than Rey Campero's flagship line.

Three wild agaves, very small batches, the proof where the agave shows

Tasting notes

Nose: Wildflower, orchid, green pepper, cooked agave, wet earth

Palate: Layered and aromatic. At 48.7%, sierra negra's vegetal depth anchoring tepextate's floral lift and jabalí's texture. All three agaves held at the same volume

Finish: Floral, mineral

The bottom line

Buy it when it shows up, the yield is small
